Major duties include:
Performs cash processing functions for the Cash Management Division. Performs work which involve the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody. Receives and/or disburses cash in accordance with the corresponding laws, rules, and regulations. Confirms the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions. Exercises responsibility for the direct support of agency cash/check/electronic funds transfer processing functions. Examines collections for negotiability, utilizes an automated system, to record transactions. Accounts for any loss or shortage in funds to the Treasury Department. Complies with procedures and instructions contained in the Department of Treasury Manual of Procedures and Instructions for Cashiers. Examines and performs quality audits of deposits in order to ensure regulatory issues are met. Other duties as assigned or required. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Experience:
Do you possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience, which equips you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Cashier, GS-06 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service to qualify at the GS-06. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
1) Experience in lengthy calculations and reconciliation of errors. 2) Skillfully used functions of several types of office automation software to include the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook email, fax back systems, and scanning equipment. 3) Performed research to reconcile positing errors, missing information, and has prior experience making contact with outside companies to obtain information. 4) Prior cash handling experience which may have been part of accounting, banking, or other financial institution work. 5) Processed electronic payments or conducted online transactions. Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held on your resume. You must provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary, and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish you have one (1) full year of Specialized Experience at or comparable to the required grade level. Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
