Accountant
Implements and manages all aspects of financial analysis and reporting on financial and accounting activities (in accordance with the Service Level Agreement) for the 21 VA facilities serviced by the Mid Atlantic Consolidated Patient Account Center. Responsible for the success of accounting, reporting and financial analysis activities. Develops and maintains strong business relationships with others throughout the organization as well as externally. Designs systematic and ad-hoc financial, statistical and accounting reports. Provides management oversight, guidance and direction for monitoring information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of professional accounting services provided to clients. Ensures delivery of services in accordance with the provisions of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Monitors CPAC accounts and ensures necessary corrective actions are taken to reconcile discrepancies in both ad-hoc and systemic environments. Provides guidance, direction and leadership by interpreting rules, regulations and policies; establishing goals, objectives and long-range plans; monitoring and evaluating administrative activities; and recommending changes to enhance services. Designs, plans, schedules and conducts studies, training programs and organizational strategies to identify opportunities to improve customer service and quality. Work Schedule:

Provide management oversight, guidance and direction for monitoring information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the accounting services provided. Prepare reconciliations of the general ledger to subsidiary accounts, accruals, adjustment journal entries, accounting reports and special reports. Analyze documents for accuracy and prepare written reports and/or oral presentations. Review pending items and ensure that follow-up action is taken on all items pending for excessive periods of time.
