Medical Support Assistant

Duties include but are not limited to:
Incumbent serves as the initial, as well as the final point of contact for guests entering and leaving the facility and is a key influence toward patient/public perception Greeting people at the entrances Maintain and review visitor policy will affected visitors Resolve conflicts around authorized criteria for entry Keep unauthorized personnel out of the facility Will work with other departments and staff to improve experiences with service recovery. Expected to seek interaction with customers entering/exiting the facility. May generally observe/monitor patients during the transport process to report identify concerns and/or seek help. Direct persons to correct locations based on screening results Maintain composure under pressure and with varied personalities Escort or assist persons to various locations to maintain positive control of area Use standard communication radio as needed Work as a team to cover entrances during peak times of day Incumbent must be able to anticipate, understand, and respond to patients' requests and needs, focused on customer service, experience and satisfaction. Experience. Six month experience of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; orEducation. One year above high school; orExperience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Grade Determinations:

Experience. One year of experience in clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. OR, Education. Two years of education above high school. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Candidates must demonstrate all of the KSAs below:
i. Ability to meet, communicate, and interact with individuals from varying backgrounds and other health care team members in a courteous and helpful manner in order to facilitate medical care for patients . ii. Ability to use, and navigate between , various types of office automation equipment and software (i.e. computer systems, web based scheduling programs; insurance collection system; scanning software, multiple line phone systems; electronic faxing programs) to support patient care . iii. Knowledge of basic medical terminology to assist in the provision of care to patients . iv. Skill in recording patient messages and understanding physician requests pertaining to follow-up medical care in internal or external clinics. Grade Determinations:
GS-05 Experience . One year of experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level; OR, (b) Education. Four years of education above high school. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Candidates must demonstrate all of the KSAs below:
i. Ability to operate computerized programs and systems in order to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive medical and patient identifying information (PII) into or from electronic health records, scheduling systems, and/or reports. ii. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology specific to understand medical diagnosis and procedures sufficient to communicate clinical staff instructions to patients. iii. Ability to schedule medical appointments in a clinical setting. iv. Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties performing patient support work . v. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person, electronically, and/or by telephone , with internal and external customers . vi. Skill in customer service with the ability to identify customer concerns, and refer to the appropriate staff , as necessary, to ensure a satisfactory resolution. References:

The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-03 to GS-05. Physical Requirements:
This work is performed both inside the facility and outside and will include periods of standing and walking.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
