This is a non-exempt position.
Position Summary Collaborating with the Facility Services Director and other department staff, the Facilities Services Technician will perform semi-skilled work to maintain, clean, and repair agency grounds and facilities.
Locations include residential group homes, administrative offices, and vehicles according to the agency's established health and safety policies and the governing regulatory standards applicable to the licensure and accreditation requirements of the organization.
Characteristics The ideal candidate will demonstrate critical thinking skills, work independently, prioritize multiple duties using effective time management, and communicate effectively with various groups, including agency administrative team members, agency direct support staff, inspectors, and vendors.
Candidates' mentality should follow a done-right approach and take pride in their work.
Essential Job Responsibilities The Facility Services Technician is expected to demonstrate minimum competence in problem-solving, taking the initiative, resident rights, quality, organization, and teamwork.
Provide routine preventative maintenance and repairs, upkeep, and monitoring at the agency's residential and vocational facilities, administrative office, and company vehicle.
Ensure timely repairs to the facilities and vehicles upon notification of problems in conjunction with the Facilities department members.
Identify maintenance and repair needs and alert the Director of Facility Services so that repairs and project costs can be estimated.
Assist with projects requiring significant labor with the direction of the Director of Facility Services.
Coordinate all required routine external inspections and act as the contact person for this function with the direction of the Director of Facility Services.
Be willing to accept a rotating 24/7 on-call responsibility for emergency repairs and be willing to work extended/odd hours in the event of snow transport when necessary.
Be able to recognize hazardous situations and areas that violate applicable federal, state, and local fire or building codes.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Example Job Duties that may be performed Performs painting, carpentry, plastering, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical maintenance.
Performs minor repair of plumbing fixtures; clears and cleans drain obstructions Performs general carpentry; maintains physical aspects of building such as windows, doorframes, and woodwork; repairs furniture; repairs and replaces locks.
Performs general upkeep and repairs.
Operates and uses small tools and machinery as necessary.
Performs preventive maintenance.
Handles after-hours emergencies when necessary.
Performs other related duties as required.

Ensuring that all Federal, State, Local, ICF/IID, and Innovation Wavier Service standards and regulations are followed.

Maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, NCI+, TB Skin Test, or others as required.
May participate in amended work schedule.
Experience and Education Required Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Minimum of One (1) year of experience in facility maintenance, construction, or similar trade work.
Physical Requirements Perform the physical life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Perform heavy work, exerting a negligible amount of force frequently and constantly, exerting up to 50-75 occasionally to move objects.
Prepare and analyze data and figures, operate electronic devices, and reading material, use measurement devices, perform visual inspections, and assemble system parts.
Skills Required Skills in basic plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and functional computer skills.
Effective communication skills, compassion, empathy, and the desire to serve others.
Ability to work in a group home and vocational settings.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of personnel at all times.
Ability to work independently, maintain a positive working relationship among a diverse workforce, and demonstrate professionalism in all duties.
Ability to complete specific job duties efficiently and within a reasonable timeframe.
Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work environment.
Maintain certification in applicable training, including but not limited to Driver, CPR and First Aid, NCI+, Blood Borne Pathogens, TB Skin Test, and complete competency-based training in areas identified by the organization.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, carpentry, vehicular maintenance schedules, or other related skills Basic computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook software programs.
Strong troubleshooting and deductive reasoning skills are a must.
Ability to comply with agency policies and procedures.
Willingness to embrace change and to adapt department operations and strategies.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
